Can I keep my Qolsys, DSC or 2GIG panel when I switch alarm companies in Canada?

To move an Alarm.com panel to a new dealer, the cellular communicator's IMEI must be released from the current dealer. Once released, the new dealer provisions the panel remotely. The hardware does not change.

Which panels can be taken over without replacing hardware?

We can take over Qolsys IQ Panel 2, 2+, and 4, plus Alarm.com-compatible 2GIG and DSC panels. We check your panel and communicator before confirming what you can keep.

What is an IMEI and where is it on my panel?

An IMEI is the 15-digit number that identifies your cellular communicator. Look for a sticker inside your panel or on its back plate, or check Settings → System Info. Send us a photo if you cannot find it.

What does "release" mean, and how do I ask my provider?

Release means your current dealer removes the communicator from its Alarm.com account so we can connect it to ours. Ask your provider using this wording:

Please remove my alarm system from your Alarm.com account and release the cellular communicator IMEI [IMEI]. I am moving my monitoring to another Alarm.com dealer. Please confirm in writing and confirm my final billing date.

What happens to my sensors, cameras and app?

We keep compatible sensors and check each camera before confirming what carries over. We set up your new Alarm.com account and help you reconnect supported cameras. Your old provider’s app account does not transfer to us.
